The Qur'an is the scripture of the Muslim community, revered by Muslims around the world and given authority to determine both faith and life. The contents of the Qur'an are available to non-Muslims as well, and reading those contents carefully can lead to worthwhile reflections on the theological concepts and values by which humans live. Open discourse on the Qur'an and other scriptures is essential for peaceful coexistence in a multifaith world. The image in the header above is taken from the painting on the left which depicts a moment in the history of Muslim-Christian encounter when a Muslim emperor invited discussion of the scriptures with the "people of the book."
